9 Reasons Why You Need a Website for Your Flower Business

why you should have a website for your flower business

I really want to take the time to talk about the importance of having a website. We don’t only need a website, but we need a killer website. But that’s another topic for another day. I want to discuss why you should have a website to begin with (then we can worry about the killer content later and what converts).

We all experienced the dreaded Instagram, Facebook and Whataspp outage recently? Yea? I heard from a few of you that it was a wake-up call for you to finally look into getting your website done! If you don’t already have a website, it is definitely time to get one. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I know how it is that you might want to get everything perfect to launch the website. But getting it done is better than getting it perfect. Here are the top reasons why you need a website for your business.

1. It Belongs to You

I’m going to make this the number one reason why you need a website because you all gone through the social media outage recently and you can all relate to this. Your Facebook account doesn’t belong to you, your Instagram account doesn’t belong to you. Your website, however, belongs to you 100%! Not only will you lose all your posts and hard work you put into your Instagram account, you will lose all your followers. One of my Instagram accounts also got hacked one time. The dude took over my entire account, deleted all my posts and stole all my followers. I was left with nothing. Surprisingly, I didn’t feel upset. I knew that my clients can find me via my website because I won’t be worrying about losing my account or getting hacked.

2. It Meets Your Couples Where They Hang Out

93% of online experiences start with the search engine. Without a website (and a search-optimized website), you cannot possibly show up when couples are looking for you. According to Wedding Wire, “nearly 90% of planning is done online“. Having a website meets your couples where they are looking (not in the Yellow Pages no more!) on Google. Be there when they are searching for you to help them with their wedding. Without a website, your business is not accessible to the couples.

3. It’s Your Digital Floral Boutique that Stays Open 24/7

Your website is your very own boutique that stays open for 24/7/365. It’s a boutique that is open to your couples at all times, whenever they want to visit. If you’re not there to answer their questions, your website can do the job for you. If you have physical products, your website can even do the cash register for you. Customers can get information and shop at any time, day or evening and don’t have to wait for you to open. Clients can book appointments to meet with you even when you’re sleeping. Literally.

4. It Builds Trust and Credibility

56% of people don’t trust a business without a website. Your website helps you with your KLT factors (know, like and trust!). Having a good website immediately boosts your credibility as a legitimate business. A listing on Yelp or 4Square is just not good enough.

5. Your Competitors Have a Website

We’re in 2021, you need to stay relevant and competitive so it’s important that you have an online presence. If other florists in your area have well-designed websites with a beautiful gallery of their work and all the information readily available to their visitors and you don’t have one, chances are they will reach out to them before reaching out to you.

6. It Allows You to Stay In Control of Your Brand & Image

Having a brand is important for your business. No, we’re not talking about your logo. Branding is not just your logo. Your brand is your overall image and touchpoints with your clients. What do clients say about you when you’re not in the room? Is it a positive or negative image and vibe you give your potential clients? Your website allows you to tell the story of your brand and business. It showcases your style, communicates your ethic, values, voice and so much more.

7. It Saves You Valuable Time

Your website can save you a lot of time by providing your potential clients with information on your products and services. Things that you are constantly having to explain over and over again, you can put them on your website. Having an FAQ section on your website is a great way to save time. This frees up your time to do other money-making activities to grow your business.

8. It Gets You More Warm Leads

Having a website, when done well, can also help you filter out those couples who aren’t your ideal clients. You can communicate the style of weddings you want to attract and you can have your price ranges indicated. When your site visitors have an idea of what you do and what you charge, they can decide if it’s what they want within their budget. If it’s not for them, they will probably decide not to contact you, so you don’t have to spend time responding that you’re probably not a good fit. When clients do decide to contact you, it’s likely that they love what they’re seeing on your website already and want to potentially work with you.

9. It Costs You More if You Don’t Have a Website

What’s one of the reasons why you don’t have a website? Could it be that you find it expensive to have one professionally made? Guess what? Not having a website is even more expensive! It will cost you cold and warm leads, customer engagements, time, credibility and you will have many lost opportunities.

The good news is that a website isn’t as expensive as you think! Whether professionally designed or not, you should make it a priority to get one up.
