Stop doing styled shoots! ....Unless you have a pl Stop doing styled shoots! ....Unless you have a plan other than posting the images on social media.
Think about it... if you spend all your time, energy and money to put together a styled shoot merely for the sake of creating content for your social media... that's super expensive!
Make sure you have a plan for using the beautiful images that reflect your style and vision of who you want to work with.
Here are some ways you can use the photos to their fullest potential... 👇👇👇
In no particular order but the last one is the biggest one with the most impact.
💫 Social media | this is a given. But sure to use them all over your Instagram, Facebook (you can auto post from IG) and Pinterest (board collabs)
Be sure to tag all the vendors so they can also share on their platforms to reach more couples.
💫 Blog Post | Write a blog post on your website, make sure the SEO is strong, mention all the vendors involved and share this on your social media as well. There's no such thing as sharing too much because only a small percentage of your audience actually sees your post each day.
💫 Marketing Materials | Creating a flyer is a great way to showcase your style and the types of weddings you want to attract. This is perfect to give out at
wedding shows. You can also contact some wedding venues and vendors to give them some to pass onto their couples.
💫 Submit to Blogs & Magazines | Submit the photos to get featured and gain exposure. Get those media bling bling logos when a popular wedding blog or magazine publishes your work. This helps with your website SEO and builds trust & credibility for your business!

There are certain words higher-end clients won't u There are certain words higher-end clients won't use when they talk about their wedding. You should be mindful of these words and avoid using them on your website, in your social media and in all of your marketing materials.
❌ DIY
❌ Budget-friendly
❌ Low-cost
❌ Cost-effective
❌ Inexpensive
❌ Economical
❌ Affordable
❌ Discount
Instead, use words like these:
✅ Luxurious
✅ Lush
✅ Fancy
✅ Grand
✅ Lavish
✅ Rich
✅ Opulent
✅ Luxe
✅ Upscale
This is why knowing who your ideal couples are is important. If your ideal couples are ones who are looking to save as much as they can on their wedding and you love helping these clients, GREAT! Do use words like "budget-friendly" or "low-cost". Otherwise, you might scare them off if you use words like "lush" or "fancy". They might think that the price tag will be expensive and already turn away before even reaching out to inquire about your services.

So they weren't lying, this is how it works! So they weren't lying, this is how it works!
I wanted all couples to hire me, I didn't understand why I wouldn't want to reach out to everyone...
Why would I not want as many clients as possible?
I put off defining my ideal couples because I just couldn't see the reasoning. Then finally I took the step to rebrand my business because I was so desperate to change things around.
Once I finally niched down to the style I loved and started speaking to the couples I wanted to attract most, that was when my business turned around 360 degrees.
Instead of being a GENERALIST in weddings (invitations, decorations, rentals, flowers, planning, candy bars etc.), I became a SPECIALIST.
I was a specialist in "garden-style floral design helping busy couples design and plan weddings so they can actually enjoy being engaged and not have to worry about the tiniest details".
People hire specialists and they are willing to pay more for specialists for their expertise!
It was frig'n scary for sure to make this change. But trust me on this one. You'll see changes in your business once you really define who you want to work with and start speaking to them!
And no, you do NOT want to work with ALL couples who are getting married.

Do your couples know this about flower prices? Tha Do your couples know this about flower prices? That they don't stay the same every week?
It's one thing if they don't know, but you, as a floral designer, must know! And here's why...
It's important to know these pricing factors so you know when to charge more so you don't lose money.
It's also important to educate your clients on these things so that they know why prices are up or down. And they will thank you for it, which is a way to create that trust factor so clients are more likely to hire you for their wedding.
Here are some factors that can affect flower prices:
💫 Natural causes: crops are affected due to rain, flood, storms, fires, and other natural causes
💫 Pandemic: farms had to destroy so many crops due to lack of workers, prices have gone in sane
💫 Holidays: Valentine's Day & Mother's Day, certain flowers are higher
💫 Flower seasons: prices are higher at the beginning, normal in the middle and cheaper at the end of the season
💫 Trends: flowers go in and out of trend, just like everything else, when in high demand, the prices will be higher
💫 Location: if you're in a very small town and need to ship flowers in, your flower cost will be higher

Being busy doesn't mean you're profitable!I was busy as heck:
💫 14 to 16-hour work days
💫 3-5 weddings a weekend
💫 always exhausted
BUT!...
I was not profitable nor sustainable
Why?
Because I kept doing things that weren't important in moving the needle in my business
Things that I, as a business owner, didn't need to be doing...
❌ cleaning & hydrating flowers
❌ cleaning vases & candle holders
❌ sending invoices & payment reminders
❌ confirming logistics
❌ stocking up on supplies
❌ customer care
Once I was willing to let go of these tasks, I was able to make time for:
✅ building a strong brand foundation
✅ work on brand shoot
✅ build a strategic website
✅ network with other vendors who align with my brand
✅ organize a styled shoot
✅ learn about marketing
What will you let go of today in order to help move your business forward? Share in the comments!
